They are both worthy of this title thanks to a number of impressive features across their spec lists, in terms of software and hardware alike. In this article I will compare a selection of their key features so you can decide which one comes out on top.

Operating System

One of the fundamental differences between the iPhone 4S and the Motorola RAZR are they operating systems that they utilise. The iPhone 4S uses the iOS platform which is found on all iPhones as well as iPads. Of course the iPhone 4S has the well known ‘retina’ display resulting in great image display quality at a resolution of 640x 960. The resolution of the Motorola RAZR’s screen is 540x 960, which can be forgiven due to the larger size of the screen.

Choosing between these two phones is likely to come down to personal preference for one of the following; brand, design, or operating system. Each phone represents the best of what is available for each operating system, and you are unlikely to be disappointed with whichever you choose.

A Comparison Of Features On The Motorola RAZR And The Samsung Galaxy S2

Motorola have recently unveiled their new RAZR handset which is a premium smartphone boasting a great combination of stylish design and excellent features. Here we put this model besides the best selling Samsung Galaxy S2 to see how the new model compares with the phone that has proved to be the best device of 2011.

There really is very little to choose between these two models when it comes to design. These are two of the slimmest phones that you are likely to encounter with the Galaxy S2 offering an overall depth of just 8.5mm. This is eclipsed by the impressive RAZR which offers a depth of just 7.1mm for the majority of the body. The only exception to this is a small protruding lip at the top of the phone which houses the camera lens. The S2 offers a more rectangular form whilst the RAZR gives us tapered corners and a more unusual design which ultimately proves more attractive. In terms of performance there is very little difference between the two phones as they both incorporate the same dual core 1.2 Ghz ARM Cortex A9 processor. This processor ensures both models are amongst the fastest phones available and can handle multi tasking facilities with ease. The graphics processing units fitted in both models do differ slightly and the Samsung Galaxy S2 comes out on top here with its PowerVR SGX 540 chip being more suited for demanding games titles and multi media usage.

When we take a look at the screen technology used on both phones the Motorola RAZR seems to have the upper hand. Despite offering the same sized 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display it manages to offer a higher 540 x 960 resolution than the Samsung. The result of this extra quality is that the handset can offer 256 pixels per inch compared to 217 on the Galaxy S2. The Samsung screen is still impressive however and offers a respectable resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. This high standard of display is perfect for viewing photographs and videos recorded on the phone. In this area both phones offer great facilities including an 8 million pixel still camera and the ability to capture 1080P video footage. The Motorola RAZR has the upper hand when it comes to the front facing camera as this can record 720P HD resolution rather than the standard VGA offered on the Galaxy S2.

On this evidence it seems that the new Motorola RAZR is well poised to take over from the Samsung Galaxy S2 as one of the highest quality handsets available. Despite the phones being very similar in many areas the RAZR does have the edge thanks to its striking looks and great screen quality.

There is no doubt that 2011 was a great year for new smartphones. We saw the release of the iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation among many others. We can only speculate at this point as to what we will see released in 2012. In this article I will take a look at a couple of likely releases.

Samsung Galaxy S3
As a successor to the wildly popular Samsung Galaxy S2, the Galaxy S3 has been confirmed for release in 2012. There are no confirmed specs at the moment, but the internet has many rumours as to what we can expect from the handset. Samsung has already beaten the screen resolution of the iPhone 4S with the Galaxy Nexus, so we can probably expect to see this carried over to the Galaxy S3. A big increase in processing power also looks likely, as there are rumours that HTC already has plans for a quad-core powered device some time this year. Of course, the new versions of Android will also be supported, with a new version being released every year. It may be the new Ice Cream Sandwich version of the software, or it could be a later version depending on what time of year the phone is released.

iPhone 5
Apple never fails to cause quite a stir every summer when they announce their new iPhone models. Many were expecting to see the iPhone 5 released in 2011, but instead we were introduced to the impressive iPhone 4S. Therefore, the iPhone 5 is pretty much guaranteed to be released this summer.
